Trainee Homeless Services Officer

Contract: Fixed Term – 6 months initially but possible opportunities after this.

Hours: 37 hours per week

Salary: £16,581 – Band 1

Action Homeless is a charity dedicated to tackling the causes and consequences of homelessness in Leicester. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual to join our Support and Engagement team.

You will act as the initial point of reference to clients coming into our service and assist in the provision of our service delivery including taking referrals, interviewing potential clients and inducting new clients into our service. You will work towards the aim of achieving independent living for each client and to provide the necessary skills to avoid repeat homelessness.

You will need to be able to demonstrate an understanding of our client group and the barriers people with experience of homelessness face. The ability to develop action plans based on clients experiences and backgrounds would be an advantage, but a desire to work with and support vulnerable adults is essential. You should have a team player approach and show a willingness to learn and develop.

Sessional Workers

Salary: £10.10 per hour

Action Homeless is a local charity dedicated to tackling the causes and consequences of homeless in Leicester and Leicestershire. We are looking to recruit bright and enthusiastic sessional workers to cover various shifts at our properties. This post offers ad-hoc work to cover staff absences.

You will need a general understanding of homelessness and the issues that our service users face, be able to work at short notice across a variety of shifts day and night. You will also need to be flexible and adaptable in different job roles as you will have various duties from working in the kitchen to dealing with rent payments.
