Reset Homelessness: Our call for properly funded supported housing
Adequate funding for housing and support is essential to meeting the complex needs of our residents, writes Mark Grant, our chief executive, as part of the Reset Homelessness campaign.
Action Homeless are proud to support the call to Reset Homelessness, a joint Homeless Link and Inside Housing campaign, which calls for a systemic review of homelessness funding in England, ahead of the Labour government’s first Spending Review in the spring.
As part of this, Inside Housing have been reporting on the funding crisis, and how it is impacting service providers and people experiencing homelessness. Today, Mark Grant, chief executive at Action Homeless writes about our experiences of supporting people who have very complex health, care and behavioural needs, and the need for funding to keep pace with the real costs of providing a safe home along with comprehensive support, including housing management.
“We believe the root issue lies not with the housing benefit system but with the drastic reduction in support funding”
