How you can help this Christmas

As we prepare to turn the clocks back and the night’s draw in, our thoughts at Action Homeless are turning to Christmas.

This Christmas, we’ll be housing and supporting more people than ever before. We need your help to ensure that we can make the festive season a little brighter for our 223 current residents, as well as all the people who will contact us for the first time throughout December.

Homelessness is a devastating experience through which people often feel isolated and alone. The festive season, especially for those whose homelessness means they are separated from family and friends, can be particularly tough.

But, with your help, we can make a difference.

How can you help?

Join in with our Christmas campaign to help make sure that people affected by homelessness don’t feel lonely, forgotten about or without the things that make Christmas special.

You, by yourself, or as a team with colleagues, friends or family can:

  • Make up Christmas gift bags with presents that will make someone smile on Christmas morning – toiletry gift packs, new clothes and chocolate treats all make great gifts for our residents
  • Donate money so that we can buy Christmas gifts and deliver them direct to people and families
  • Donate food to our Food Stop which will support hundreds of individuals and families in the run up to Christmas. Download a list of the most needed items.
  • Sponsor one of our Christmas events and activities – across our projects we’ll be hosting a range of festive dinners, crafts and games sessions, a children’s party and more to keep people entertained. Your donation could help us pay for the venues, materials and food that we need to make these events a success.

However you’d like to be involved, we’d love to hear from you. If you are planning on donating goods or want to sponsor an event, we’d appreciate if you could let us know at the earliest opportunity so that we can plan how much and what we still need to find to make sure donations reach as many people as possible.

Please get in touch by emailing eilidhstringer@actionhomeless.org.uk or call us on 0116 2211851. You can also message us via twitter and facebook.

Please note: We are unable to accept second hand clothing, bedding or furniture at this time.
