Give the key to a home this Christmas

Action Homeless has today launched its winter appeal, asking for donations to help give people homes. We are appealing to the public to dig deep this festive season to ensure that people affected by homelessness locally have somewhere safe and warm to live.

Donations will be used by Action Homeless to make long term homes available to people facing homelessness.

Every night of the year, the charity is home to 196 people who would otherwise have nowhere else to go. Where possible it aims to give people and families long term affordable homes from which they can start to rebuild their lives.

The charity believes it is only when people feel stable and secure in their homes, and when they are able to stop worrying about where they are sleeping from one week to the next, that they can really turn their lives around.

Mark Grant, chief executive, said;

Being without a stable home is a traumatic experience which affects hundreds of men, women and children in Leicester and Leicestershire every year. It causes immense stress and uncertainty and affects every aspect of a person’s life and wellbeing. The longer people are in a state of homelessness, the more damaging it can be.

We need the public’s help to continue making homes available to people who find themselves in this situation so that they can get the help that they deserve quickly. That’s why we are asking for people to visit our website or get in touch to make a donation, whatever you can give will make a difference right here in Leicester. Your donation will be the key to a home’

Throughout the year, Action Homeless have been approached by hundreds of people in housing crisis and despite best efforts to meet demand have been unable to help everyone. 100% of money donated by the public, will go towards making more homes available for local people affected by homelessness in 2020.
