Fosse Park Announce Charity of the Year Partnership

Action Homeless is delighted to announce that it has been chosen by Fosse Park to be their ‘charity of the year’.

The “Make a House a Home” campaign has been created to encourage people to donate in support of local women and their children who have experienced domestic violence and abuse, or for those who find themselves in a housing crisis.

Last year alone Action Homeless provided emergency housing and specialist support to over 400 people across the City and County. In creating this partnership, Fosse Park will now be working tirelessly to drive both awareness and much-needed funds for the charity.

Action Homeless is an organisation, Adrian Young –  Fosse Park centre manager – feels extremely passionate about. Last Christmas he staged his very own sit out to help raise its profile as well as encourage donations. He said: “I was originally inspired to do this as I saw it as a fantastic opportunity in which to talk to members of the community about homelessness”.

“We are now thrilled to be able to cement our relationship with Action Homeless. As a high-profile shopping destination in both Leicester and the surrounding area we want to do everything we can to assist the charity in the incredible ongoing work they do within the local community.

“Our shoppers are always so generous, and I know this will be an initiative they will get fully behind. We now look forward to raising as much as we can for this deserving organisation.”

Mark Grant, CEO of Action Homeless, added: “We are extremely grateful for the support of Fosse Park and the commitment they have shown in highlighting the plight of the those who are forced to seek refuge. Every penny given by their shoppers to the “Make a House a Home” initiative will go directly to helping to get someone into a safe and secure place to live.”

Action Homeless’ approach to tackling homelessness goes beyond providing a roof. Everyone who walks through its front doors has access to a wide range of services which aim to tackle the causes and consequences of their homelessness. Its team of experts, staff and volunteers work hard to ensure people leave the charity with somewhere to call home and the skills and means to maintain their independence.

A team of volunteers from Action Homeless visted Fosse Park on Saturday 19 October to launch the partnership and raise money for the charity.
