Ending European Street Homelessness Campaign: Impact Report

World Habitat release latest Impact Report for Ending European Street Homelessness Campaign.

World Habitat has released its 2015 – 2018 Impact Report which outlines the successes and challenges of the first three years of the Ending European Street Homelessness Campaign.

Action Homeless joined the campaign over two years ago, helping to establish the Ending Street Homelessness Leicester partnership which launched with a connections week in November 2017. The week included a city-wide street count of rough sleepers undertaken by representatives of local services and charities, supported by almost 100 volunteers from De-Monfort and Leicester Universities and resulted in the launch of Leicester’s Homeless Charter earlier this year.

Regarding the campaign Mark Grant, CEO of Action Homeless said “Being part of the European Ending Street Homeless Campaign has given us an invaluable opportunity to learn from other cities on how they are tackling the problems of rough sleeping. We have learnt so much and have been able to apply this to tackling homelessness here in Leicester, such as our own Connections week in 2017. Being able to share experiences and to explore new ideas has been invaluable, but most importantly it provides us with the support and encouragement to continue to meet the challenge of reducing street homelessness in Leicester.”

Key statistics from the Impact Report include almost 350 people across Europe who were previously homeless moving into permanent accommodation and the recruitment of almost 3,000 volunteers to talk to thousands of local homeless people to discover what support they need and want.
