Cycling Grant from Leicester City Council

This Thursday 4th August is #cycletoworkday, so we thought this would be the perfect time to announce that Action Homeless has received a £300 cycle challenge grant from Leicester City Council.

This one-off grant was available to city-based groups, to help encourage more people to cycle more safely and more often.

We would like to purchase a number of bike locks with this grant. Action Homeless has a number of residents who already cycle around the city, but who do not have a safe and secure method to store their bikes. Providing bike locks to those who already cycle will enable residents to safely secure their bikes when travelling to attend appointments and socialising across Leicester.

We hope this will also encourage more residents to take up cycling and benefit those who currently do not have a safe way to properly lock up their bikes.

Any additional money from this grant which has not been spent on bike locks, will go towards providing helmets to residents who do not currently have one.
