Our approach
Our 5 year strategy and theory of change details how we will work to break the cycle of chronic homelessness.
Action Homeless offers support to people in our services through a strength based framework and coaching model. We adapt ourselves, our environment and our services to meet people’s requirements to deliver continuous development.
Our priority is ensuring everyone has somewhere to feel safe and secure, so they can concentrate on ending homelessness and are supported to access and sustain the right accommodation for their needs.
The charity has over 250 units of accommodation in Leicester, some of which is commissioned in partnership with Leicester City Council and accessed through their referral services. Our partnership includes specialist projects tackling long-term street homelessness, high levels of support for people with multiple and complex needs, as well as accommodation for people who are more independent.
We also have a range of accommodation which is accessible by referrals from agencies and self-referral through our Duty Desk. This includes shared houses for people that require low support to navigate future housing decisions and more permanent resettlement options.
We have a women’s refuge, Bridge House, which offers accommodation to women and children experiencing domestic abuse. The project also benefits from a Play Facilitator who specialises in helping children establish positive relationships and healthy family routines through developmental group play and one to one sessions.
Action Homeless is also landlord and have a variety of accommodation which is offered under an Assured Short-hold Tenancy agreement (AST) for families and individuals.
