Assistant Director of Services

A vacancy has arisen to join the senior management team within Action Homeless services function.  If you are a motivational leader with a drive to ensure excellent service provision for those who use our services then this may be the opportunity for you.

Our Assistant Director of Services will have the opportunity to lead, develop, innovate and manage services across our organisation.  The Charity delivers a variety of homeless services from high support to low support needs and our Assistant Director of Services will ensure that the range of services we offer meet the needs of our clients with the most appropriate levels of support.

The successful candidate will have exceptional team leadership and management skills and will have the ability to plan the delivery of our services strategically and collaboratively with other areas of the business.

To be successful in the role you will need strong communications skills and the ability to manage multiple service priorities.  You will need experience of developing supported housing and a genuine interest and commitment to work with our client group.

Senior Homeless Case Officers – Homeless Services

Hours: 37 per week

Salary: 24,303 which includes £1000 enhancement for participating in on-call/shift work on a rota basis

Contract: Permanent

Action Homeless are committed to ending the cycle of homelessness and ensuring everyone has a decent and safe place to call home. Our mission is to ensure that no one has to sleep rough on the street in our City. We are passionate about ending street homelessness, and empowering people to achieve higher living standards and quality of life.

We are looking for people with experience of working with vulnerable adults, you may already be in the homeless sector, or have experience working with adults in challenging situations, and have transferable skills and competencies we are looking for.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a service working towards reducing rough sleeping in Leicester, supporting people to access suitable crisis and longer-term accommodation.

As a Senior Officer you will:

  • Have your own case load to manage, working with some of the most disadvantaged people who have experienced street lifestyles.
  • Be a first response to referrals, carrying out assessments with people accessing our services, identify support needs and refer to relevant agencies
  • Work alongside other agencies including, the local authority, mental health services, drug and alcohol, and housing providers.
  • Need to work flexibly and on occasion unsocial hours as our service operate 365 days a year.

To be successful you will need to have:

  • An understanding of working with people experiencing homelessness or vulnerable adults and supporting them to access services.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills in order to remain strongly outcome focused, with the ability to coordinate a high number of cases and complete tasks promptly and efficiently.
  • A commitment to working in a challenging environment with the ability to be highly flexible throughout the working day.
  • Good communication skills and confidence when representing Action Homeless to external organisations and forming strong working relationships with partners; being able to challenge them when required.
  • Strong IT skills with the ability use online recording systems, client management systems, Excel, and Word, using all forms of technology.

The role will involve both office and accommodation based work in Leicester with occasional street access work. While some of your time will be spent working daytime shifts, Monday-Friday, the role includes some early morning and late-night shifts. This will also include some weekend working. Being able to move across the City quickly and efficiently is essential for this post and a clean drivers’ license would be preferable, due to the locations of our properties.

Tenancy Sustainment Officer

Hours: 37 per week

Salary: Starting at £21,343

Contract: Permanent

Action Homeless is looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual to join a small team in supporting clients to sustain their own tenancies.  This is an ideal role for someone who has a passion to make a difference and help individuals to regain their independence.

You will be responsible for overseeing tenant’s journeys from temporary accommodation into their own tenancy, providing advice on their rights and obligations including entitlements to welfare benefits and dealing with any breaches in tenancies.

We are seeking an individual that can either demonstrate experiences according to the person specification or can show the willingness and drive to undertake training to succeed in the role. The ability to prioritise workloads, motivate people to engage, work flexibly with a “can do” attitude, and be a team player are essential.

Corporate Services Administrator

Hours: 37 per week

Salary: £18,649

We are seeking a Corporate Services Administrator to work as part of a team providing a professional front of house service and administration support to our corporate team with emphasis on fundraising and human resources administration.

We are looking for someone with strong administrative and organisational skills, who can communicate confidently in all forms of communication and work as part of a team.

You must be able to work with sensitive and confidential information and have the ability to be able to multitask.  It is essential that you are IT literate with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office and online tools such as Survey Monkey. Having the ability to be able to prioritise and plan is a core requirement.

We are looking for people with experience of working with vulnerable adults and providing housing related support, as well having experience of managing a small staff team.  You may already be in the homeless sector, or have experience working with adults in challenging situations and leading teams, and have transferable skills and competencies which we are looking for.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an organisation that is working towards reducing rough sleeping, and ending cycles of homelessness in Leicester, supporting people to access suitable crisis and longer-term accommodation.

As a Service Team Manager you will:

  • Be responsible for the day to day management of one of our projects
  • Be responsible for a small staff team ensuring they have the necessary support, supervision and training required for their roles
  • Be responsible for and the reporting of the projects outcomes
  • Liaise with other agencies and ensure the project provides a safe and secure environment
  • Need to work flexibly and on occasion unsocial hours as our services operate 365 days a year

To be successful you will need to have:

  • An understanding of working with people experiencing homelessness or vulnerable adults and supporting them to access services.

Housekeeper/Social Enterprise Assistant

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 37 per week

Salary: £18,280

Action Homeless are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual to join our housekeeping and social enterprise team.

You will be responsible for performing a variety of housekeeping duties and ensuring all areas and rooms are cared for and cleaning schedules adhered to in accordance with Action Homeless standards. You will also be required to use commercial cleaning materials in accordance with H&S standards.

We are seeking an individual with experience of domestic/commercial cleaning, knowledge and understanding of working with cleaning chemicals i.e. COSHH, and a general interest in working in a homeless service environment. You will need to have good organisation and prioritisation skills, enjoy working with people, be confident and approachable and hold a clean driving licence.

Sessional Workers

Salary: £10.50 per hour

Action Homeless is a local charity dedicated to tackling the causes and consequences of homeless in Leicester and Leicestershire. We are looking to recruit bright and enthusiastic sessional workers to cover various shifts at our properties which provide accommodation to people experiencing homelessness. The role will provide for staff cover in times of absence

You will need experience of working within the housing sector or with our client group. You should be able to work at short notice across a variety of shifts day / evening shifts e.g. 8am-4pm or 2pm-10pm. Your role will include; collecting rent payments, booking in clients, day to day running of the supported housing project.

This is a zero-hour contract but due to the current situation there is plenty of work available.
