Homeless Services Team Manager  

Hours: 37 per week

Salary: £29,291

We are looking for people with experience of working with vulnerable adults and providing housing related support, as well having experience of managing a small staff team.  You may already be in the homeless sector, or have experience working with adults in challenging situations and leading teams, and have transferable skills and competencies which we are looking for.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an organisation that is working towards reducing rough sleeping, and ending cycles of homelessness in Leicester, supporting people to access suitable crisis and longer-term accommodation.

As a Service Team Manager you will:

  • Be responsible for the day to day management of one of our projects
  • Be responsible for a small staff team ensuring they have the necessary support, supervision and training required for their roles
  • Be responsible for and the reporting of the projects outcomes
  • Liaise with other agencies and ensure the project provides a safe and secure environment
  • Need to work flexibly and on occasion unsocial hours as our services operate 365 days a year

To be successful you will need to have:

  • An understanding of working with people experiencing homelessness or vulnerable adults and supporting them to access services.
  • Experience of working within a housing related support environment and leading a team
  • Management experience
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills in order to remain strongly outcome focused and meet the projects requires with resources.
  • A commitment to working in a challenging environment with the ability to be highly flexible throughout the working day.
  • Good communication skills and confidence when representing Action Homeless to external organisations and forming strong working relationships with partners; being able to challenge them when required.
  • Strong IT skills with the ability use online recording systems, client management systems, Excel, and Word, using all forms of technology.

While most of your time will be spent working office hours Monday-Friday, the role does require flexibility to include supporting your teams, who will work across the services, as they work on rotas, which include some early morning and late-night shifts, and weekend working. Being able to move across the City quickly and efficiently is essential for this post and a clean drivers’ license would be preferable, due to the locations of our properties on taking part in our on-call and emergency response system out of hours.

Senior Homeless Case Officers – Homeless Services

Hours: 37 per week

Salary: Point 15 £24,044 to Point 17 £25,574

We are looking for people with experience of working with vulnerable adults, you may already be in the homeless sector, or have experience working with adults in challenging situations, and have transferable skills and competencies we are looking for.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a service working towards reducing rough sleeping in Leicester, supporting people to access suitable crisis and longer-term accommodation.

As a Senior Officer you will:

  • Have your own case load to manage, working with some of the most disadvantaged people who have experienced street lifestyles.
  • Be a first response to referrals, carrying out assessments with people accessing our services, identify support needs and refer to relevant agencies
  • Work alongside other agencies including, the local authority, mental health services, drug and alcohol, and housing providers.
  • Need to work flexibly and on occasion unsocial hours as our service operate 365 days a year.

To be successful you will need to have:

  • An understanding of working with people experiencing homelessness or vulnerable adults and supporting them to access services.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills in order to remain strongly outcome focused, with the ability to coordinate a high number of cases and complete tasks promptly and efficiently.
  • A commitment to working in a challenging environment with the ability to be highly flexible throughout the working day.
  • Good communication skills and confidence when representing Action Homeless to external organisations and forming strong working relationships with partners; being able to challenge them when required.

Housekeeper/Social Enterprise Assistant

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 37 per week

Salary: £18,280

Action Homeless are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual to join our housekeeping and social enterprise team.

You will be responsible for performing a variety of housekeeping duties and ensuring all areas and rooms are cared for and cleaning schedules adhered to in accordance with Action Homeless standards. You will also be required to use commercial cleaning materials in accordance with H&S standards.

We are seeking an individual with experience of domestic/commercial cleaning, knowledge and understanding of working with cleaning chemicals i.e. COSHH, and a general interest in working in a homeless service environment. You will need to have good organisation and prioritisation skills, enjoy working with people, be confident and approachable and hold a clean driving licence.

Homeless Services Assistant

Exciting New Opportunity!

Hours: 37 hours per week

Salary: Point 6 £18,649 to point 10 £20,612

We are offering an exciting training and development opportunity within our homeless services.

This role will enable you to work across all our services and develop experience and skills in a variety of homeless service provisions.

You will act as the initial point of reference to clients coming into our service and assist in the provision of our service delivery including taking referrals, interviewing potential clients and inducting new clients into our service. You will work towards the aim of achieving independent living for each client and to provide the necessary skills to avoid repeat homelessness.

Ideally you will need to be able to demonstrate an understanding of our client group and the barriers people with experience of homelessness face, but a desire to work with and support vulnerable adults is an essential. You should have a team player approach and show a willingness to learn and develop.

Homeless Services Officer

Action Homeless is a local charity that provides high, medium and low support services to people experiencing homelessness.  You will be responsible for delivering housing related support and assistance in order for them to transition into end stage accommodation.

The role will involve using a strength based approach to help overcome complex issues and creating tailored support packages for individuals. You will also be responsible for conducting Health and Safety checks, rent collection and void management.

Our services operate 7 days per week, the role will include some evening work to ensure that the needs of our clients are fully met.

Sessional Workers

Salary: £10.50 per hour

Action Homeless is a local charity dedicated to tackling the causes and consequences of homeless in Leicester and Leicestershire. We are looking to recruit bright and enthusiastic sessional workers to cover various shifts at our properties which provide accommodation to people experiencing homelessness. The role will provide for staff cover in times of absence

You will need experience of working within the housing sector or with our client group. You should be able to work at short notice across a variety of shifts day / evening shifts e.g. 8am-4pm or 2pm-10pm. Your role will include; collecting rent payments, booking in clients, day to day running of the supported housing project.

This is a zero-hour contract but due to the current situation there is plenty of work available.
