We are looking for people with dedication and ambition who want to make a real difference. While we offer housing related support and manage the accommodation and buildings, we also work in close partnership with many other agencies across the City to achieve our outcomes, and are passionate about achieving higher living standards.

You may already be in the homeless sector, or have experience working with adults living difficult and complex lives. You will be experienced in managing services and leading teams, and have transferable skills and competencies that we are looking for. Managing housing and related support with our partners is a big part of the role, as is striving to deliver the best services we can for our customers. You will enjoy being agile and driven, be flexible and motivated to develop and improve services to meet our aims.

The role is an exciting opportunity to join an established homeless organisation leading the way on innovative approaches to supporting people in our sector, with staff and customer wellbeing at the heart to of what we do.

As a Services Manager you will:

· Be responsible for the day to day management of services

· Be responsible for a small staff team ensuring they have the necessary support, supervision and training required for their roles

· Be responsible for and the reporting of the projects outcomes

· Liaise with partners and agencies to ensure the project provides a safe and secure environment

· Need to work flexibly and on occasion unsocial hours as our services operate 365 days a year

To be successful you will need to have:

· An understanding of working with people experiencing homelessness or vulnerable adults and supporting them to access services.

· Experience of working within a housing related support environment and leading a team

· Management experience

· Excellent organisation and time management skills in order to remain strongly outcome focused and meet the projects requires with resources.

· A commitment to working in a challenging environment with the ability to be highly flexible throughout the working day.

· Good communication skills and confidence when representing Action Homeless to external organisations and forming strong working relationships with partners; being able to challenge them when required.

· Strong IT skills with the ability use online recording systems, client management systems, Excel, and Word, using all forms of technology.

While most of your time will be spent working office hours Monday-Friday, the role does require flexibility to include supporting your teams, who will work across the services, as they work on rotas, which include some early morning and late-night shifts, and weekend working. Being able to move across the City quickly and efficiently is essential for this post and a clean drivers’ license would be preferable, due to the locations of our properties on taking part in our emergency response system out of hours.

We are looking to recruit bright and enthusiastic sessional workers to cover various shifts at our properties. This post offers ad-hoc work to cover staff absences.

You will need a general understanding of homelessness and the issues that our service users face, be able to work at short notice across a variety of shifts day and night. You will also need to be flexible and adaptable in different job roles as you will have various duties from working in the kitchen to dealing with rent payments.

We are passionate about ending street homelessness, and empowering people to achieve higher living standards and quality of life.

This fantastic opportunity will see you joining a much needed service in the City that supports homelessness. You will be required to work as part of team in either our low, medium or high support services dependent on the staffing needs of these services. High support services will involve working with complex needs and rough sleepers. Hours will vary across the roles and may include shift and weekend work to ensure we can provide our services for 7 days per week to meet the needs of our clients.

As a Homeless Services Officer you will….

· Complete regular health and safety checks of individual rooms/properties. Ensuring our accommodation provides a safe and secure living environment

· sign up new clients to their accommodation, advising them of their rights and obligations under the conditions of their tenancy/licence agreements and fully inducting them into the new accommodation

· Be the first point of contact in all matters relating to our clients accommodation e.g. housing benefit advice, arrears advice and anti-social behaviour issues.

· Be responsible for delivering housing related support so our clients sustain their accommodation. This will include encouraging regular rent payments, budgeting and maintaining their home.

· Support clients to progress their action plans to achieve a positive and sustainable move into more permanent accommodation

· Be able to deal with difficult situations and manage conflict appropriately

· Be alert to the health and well-being of the clients in our services

To be successful you will need….

· An approachable manner with the ability to remain calm under pressure

· The ability to motivate clients and provide encouragement so they engage with the support available to them

· The IT skills to collect, input and retrieve data using our ICT systems

· Experience of supporting clients within a housing setting
